For safety your pool training is conducted in pools from 1.2metre to 4 metres deep, this makes the transition to your open water dive site easy as your first two dives will be no deeper than about 6 metres. Your final two dives are to a maximum of 18 metres.

The majority of Improve your Scuba  courses can be completed on dive trips  .

On Overseas trips there is no additional charge for completion of a course with GO-Dive.

On UK Trips GO-Dive own two boats which are used for training and trips and an additional charge of approximately £10 per day is made to cover boat fees and fuel.  On UK Charter boats the cost is normally £20 per day. All prices include equipment .

Discover Scuba in the safety of a swimming pool. Its an ideal opportunity to try the equipment, meet the Instructors and see just how Fun, Safe and easy Scuba diving really is.

Try dives are held every Monday & Friday from 8:00pm - 10:00pm at Moorways pool, Moor Lane, Derby (Map) at a cost of £5 per person fully inclusive.  After a short safety briefing and equipment familiarisation you will spend about 60 minutes in the pool discovering just how fun, safe & easy scuba diving really is.
 
What to bring: Swim suit, towel, old T shirt (optional) £1 for lockers (refundable) 20p for hair dryers and a big smile

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main sections .

Knowledge developmentusing the PADI Open water diver manual or multi media CD Rom.
The manual guides you through the information required to Scuba dive in comfort and safety. Here are five easy to read chapters with quick quizzes to guide you through the information required plus full colour sections which outline what you will be doing during your course.
Your Instructor also overviews each chapter and reviews the quizzes etc to ensure you know how and when to use the information in actual diving circumstances.
The manual is also supported by a live action video which also previews your confined water (pool) training and your four open water dives.

Confined water (pool) sessions.
There a minimum of five pool sessions required during which you will learn the skills necessary to dive in safety under the supervision and direction of a professional PADI Scuba Instructor.
Although there is a minimum of five pool sessions required GO-Dive understand that people learn at a different pace and therefore have NO Maximum number of pool sessions included in the price of your course.

Open water Dives
There are four open water dives required to complete the PADI open water diver course.
These are normally conducted over two days (ie two Sundays).
On these dives you will demonstrate the procedures and skills learned during your pool dives.
Although there are a minimum of 4 open water dives required to complete the PADI Open water diver course  GO-Dive understand that due to environmental conditions or peoples abilities there are no maximum number of open water dives included in the price of your course.

Full Open Water Diver course or Scuba Diver course or Referral?

The Referral and Scuba Diver course are really just portions / sections of the complete PADI open water diver course , they do not ALL have to be completed at the same time or with the same dive center / Instructor, you can progress from one section to another in different countries, with different dive centers and Instructors – this is how it works.

The referral courseconsists of ALL five knowledge development and five  pool dives. On completion of these sections you can then complete your four openwater  dives at any PADI dive center in the world.

The Referal option is favoured by people who have a holiday booked or are planning a holiday overseas . You can complete the knowledge development and pool dives in your own time here in the UK with GO-Dive and then go diving almost straight away whilst completing your final four openwater dives when on holiday
 OR if something happens which prevents them from completing a full open water course (ie cold or illness) the referral still gives you recognition / credit and allows you to complete the remaining portions of the PADI Open water course at a later date.

You can upgrade anytime during your course from the Referral Course to the Scuba Diver course for £26
These are prices for standard courses. Flexible timing, different location and Fast track courses may be arranged and may be at additional cost.

On completion you will be awarded the PADI Scuba Diver certification / qualification card and will be able to dive under the supervision a PADI Dive master, Assistant Instructor or Instructor to a maximum of 12 metres.
You  then have one year (12 months) to complete you final 2 knowledge development sessions, final 2  pool dives and last  two open water dives to gain the certification / qualification of PADI Open water diver which qualifies you to dive to 18 metres, with another qualified diver (ie without the supervision of a Dive Master or Instructor).

The Scuba Diver course option is ideal for people who really only want to dive on a one off special holiday of a life time or have not really decided if they want to continue with diving after their holiday or if something happens which prevents them from completing a course but still gives you recognition / credit and allows you to complete the remaining portions of the complete PADI Open water course at a later date.

Its simple you can hop from one course to another, just by paying the difference between the courses or upgrade fee as applicable.
There are no time limits you can complete one course then return at a later date to complete another course.

Payment for courses
The deposit for all courses is £50 which covers the cost of manuals, course materials and confirms your place on the course.
The balance is payable before completion of the course.

Course Schedules
A course schedule will be provided at the start of each course listing dates & times for each portion of your course. If you are unable to attend any sessions your Instructor will arrange other sessions for you to catch up and complete the course – No additional charge is usually made for this.

Pool Dives (click here to see photos)
These are completed at various swimming pools in Derby and are large enough for you to practice correct diving techniques as well as having shallow and deep areas to meet the course requirements as directed by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).

Open Water Dives (click here to see photos)
These are conducted at Europes leading Inland dive site, the National Diver Training Centre (Stoney Cove) in Sapcote, Leicestershire, approximately 40 minutes from Derby city center. For your convience open water training dives are conducted on either Saturday or Sunday morning from 8:00am to 12:00 pm (normally 2 dives per day).
Dives can be arranged with your Instructor on weekdays please ask for details.
The National Diver Training Centre is a disused quarry that is now dedicated to Scuba and has all the on site facilities you would exspect including changing rooms with showers, bar, restaurant.
 
 

Now that you are a diver, you've open the door to a lifetime of adventure. Whether you desire deep dives along sensational wrecks or reefs or even photographing the amazing underwater world, the PADI Advanced Open Water program is your passport for continued adventure.

Courses to improve your scuba skills are mainly practical based with a small amount of home study, although some sections may require a confined water dive as a practice session before your Openwater dives.

Every week GO-Dive conduct Orientation dives for divers either at Stoney Cove. Please book early to avoid disappointment. Prices Inc ALL Equipment if you do not have your own.

This is the first half of the Advanced Open Water program and can be completed separately or at the same time as the Advanced Open Water course. Gaining the Adventure Diver certification gives you the opportunity to develop your underwater interests as well as increasing your diving knowledge and skills.

This course involves three Openwater dives from a wide selection available (see our list of specialty courses for ideas).

The Advanced Open water diver course is a ‘hands on course’ with a small amount of home study, which is reviewed by your Instructor at the dive site before each dive.
The 5 practical dives increase you experience, skills, knowledge and confidence beyond that developed in the PADI Open water Diver course.
On completion you will be awarded the PADI Advanced open water diver qualification which permits you to dive to 30 metres.

The five dives consist of two core dives (Deep & Navigation) plus three ‘Adventure’ dives which can be selected from the list of our speciality dives or from the menu below.
Note: Each dive in the Advanced diver course is the first dive of a ‘speciality diver’ dive and you can receive credit towards a speciality diver course which can reduce the cost of the chosen course.

The GO-Dive difference
During these dives you have the option to practice and use vital pieces of dive equipment for divers (especially in the UK) .These include a dive computer,a pony bottle & regulator, a divers reel and Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (D-SMB) and/or standard SMB etc, these items are included in your course along with other equipment.

The Advanced course is normally conducted over two days either Sat/Sun or Sun/Sun, if you elect for a night dive this is completed on a Wednesday evening, Torches & strobe lights are supplied in the course.
Dives which can only be completed on a dive trip, you must have completed the two core dives (deep & navigation) prior to the trip.

What is included in the course price ?

The PADI Adventures in Diving Manual which covers all the dives available (This manual is worth buying even if you do not do the course) and is a valuable reference tool for your future diving.

PADI Adventure log detailing your training etc and which fits in your Divers personal organizer and the Adventures in Diving work slate.

ALL equipment including Dive computer, knife/tool, torches, reels, SMB’s , drysuit lifting bags, cameras, etc etc.
(Film & film processing are not included).

Optional pool dives are available if you require them for practice / refreshers etc at no extra charge.

A prerequisite for the Rescue diver course is a First Aid Course that includes CPR and Mouth to Mouth resuscitation. This course is essential for everyday events in the work place, Home or Dive site. Emergency First Response is a non diving First Aid course which covers all aspects of first responder first aid including use of Defibrillater.

This course is considered by many to be the first course in the leadership level of diving qualifications. The skills you learn give you the ability to conquer emergency situations, challenge others to be more safe and control a crisis - hopefully BEFORE it happens.

The PADI Rescue Diver program will build your confidence as a diver, give you valuable experience in emergency management and prevention and heighten your awareness of the surrounding environment.

Scheduled courses are conducted either over one weekend Sat / Sun or on two consecutive Sundays.

Flexi courses can be completed on week days min two persons

Course consists of Rescue Diver Course plus 5 specialties
The PADI Master Scuba Diver rating is the highest non Instructional rating in the PADI system of diver education; it is a diving qualification that denotes superior achievement.

To apply for the Master Scuba diver rating divers must apply to PADI with proof of the following:

PADI Advanced or Advanced plus qualification;
PADI Rescue Diver Qualification;
Five PADI Specialties.

PADI Specialty courses allow you to improve your diving skills and knowledge under the supervision of an experienced PADI Instructor.

Divers who have been diving for many years are often surprised at the improvements made to their diving skills after completion of a specialty course.

The most comfortable way to dive all year round in the UK is in a drysuit. During this course you will learn everything you need to know AND more about drysuits ( see Master Scuba Diver ) We will also show you how drysuits are made AND how to carryout repairs yourself (even on a dive boat at sea).

Your journey into leadership starts with the PADI Divemaster course.  You’ll practice supervising diving activities and assisting with students in training as well as improving your knowledge and skills to a Professional level.

PADI Divemasters can work as dive guides on dive boats and at resort locations. Assist PADI Instructors with diver training, lead PADI Scuba divers on guided tours and conduct PADI Discover local diving and Scuba review programs.

The PADI Dive Master rating denotes an Individual who has exemplary diving skills and role model behaviour, solid rescue skills, professional knowledge of dive theory, dive management and supervision abilities, and competence as an Instructors assistant.

The course is very intensive but on a very flexible schedule and is dependent on how much time you can devote to the course.

Dive master candidates will work closely with and become part of our dive team on at least two full PADI openwater courses, one PADI Advanced open water course, One PADI Rescue course plus optional sessions inc speciality courses, working within our dive store, compressor operations and maintinance and organising dive trips and boat handling.

Please note; GO-Dive train Divemasters to work in the dive Industry, we do not train people who just want the card.  If you do not want to get involved in Diver training / the dive Industry consider the Master Scuba Diver Rating this is the highest non-professional qualification within the PADI system.

PADI AI’s are dive educators who assist with, organise and supervise knowledge development, confined water (pool) and Openwater activities.

Assistant Instructors work in partnership with PADI Instructors to provide students with quality knowledge and skill development during PADI programs.

The teaching skills assistant Instructors develop during their training allows them to independently conduct several PADI programs, and with further training they May teach non-diving specialty courses.
